Between 2007-09 PSE Information Systems worked with UOIT Institutional Analysis and Planning to facilitate the deployment of a student survey and tracking system. The project goal was to identify student characteristics and experiences associated with academic failure and withdrawal.
Student information was collected with two survey instruments. The first provided a comprehensive description of student background characteristics, while the second documented their experiences during the first year. All data was collected at the individual student level.
Integrating this information with measures of student performance and retention, the project results identified specific groups that could benefit from new retention initiatives.
